OBJECTIVES OF THE CENTER

As the laboratory animal science is a constantly developing field, it is planned to improve the physical conditions of the center and to raise an experimental animal model of special quality (such as Transgenic mouse, Nude Mouse) in the future. Along with the scientific researches that will be carried out, it is aimed to increase the quality and quantity in the production of experimental animals. Therefore, in the center, which was built initially for the production of experimental animals and for the use of these animals in scientific studies, the renewal of existing equipment/laboratory devices, the improvement of physical conditions and the production of different experimental animal models are planned with the direct support of the university and with the infrastructure projects that will be prepared for the scientific research projects unit and national project support institutions. Within the framework of its strategic plan, the center encourages research and development activities that are compatible with its academic priorities, can create value and can be transformed into social benefit. In this context, DEKAM continues its service and support in the field of laboratory animal science. Support for the studies using laboratory animals includes all researchers working and students pursuing post-graduate education at the Faculties of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Science, Human and Animal Hospitals operating in the fields of biomedical and health sciences. Scientific projects, researches and applied trainings supported by the center focus on the issues related to human and animal health. Taking the above-mentioned fields of Health Sciences into consideration, the center also aims to have experimental models that require special techniques and devices to be used in researches by the sector and the researchers working in this field and to organize various courses and workshops in the field of experimental models by means of qualified faculty members in the field. For all scientific studies or applied trainings carried out at the center in many fields such as biomedical and health sciences, the center tries to access its short-term goals first by producing healthy and safe conventional experimental animals considering animal welfare, providing experimental animals when necessary, sharing laboratory facilities of the center with researchers and providing technical service with its technical staff. In addition, based on the principle of serving human and animal health, by improving its physical conditions and with the demands from researchers, it is among the future goals of the center to pave the way for working on scientific projects which are greater in number and quality and meet the need for experimental animals that can be different/specific working models.
